As we start the harvest season at Grand Island Vineyards and begin filling the winery with 2021 vintage fruit and wine, we want to share some of the experiences that make harvest special.
While harvest tends to be very unpredictable in terms of fruit timing, which wines are tasting good, and what grapes are around the winery, we hope to offer some crush pad tours on the weekends when there are things to see and taste. So for the next month on Saturdays and Sundays, Ed and I will be periodically inviting customers at the winery to venture into the cellar and/or vineyard if they are interested.
Some of the exciting things to see and taste during harvest include freshly fermenting white wine, barrel samples, ripe wine grapes, library wines, and unreleased wines.
These tours will usually be sometime between the winery opening and noon on the weekends and will only happen if there is something interesting to see or taste that day. It is a great opportunity to connect with the winemakers and to experience the 2021 Grand Island Vineyards vintage first hand.
